Pension Protection Act of 2006 Creates Possibilities for Donors
The Pension Protection Act, enacted in August 2006, contains an IRA Charitable Rollover Provision. It allows people who are at least 70.5 years of age to make a tax-free distribution of up to $100,000 annually from an IRA to charity. This is a unique opportunity because it is a tax exclusion, which means you do not have to report the IRA withdrawal as income on your tax return.
