The Friends of the Morrill Homestead is a proud partner of the Olmsted 200 campaign, a nationwide bicentennial birthday celebration of the democratic values and enduring influence of visionary American landscape artist Frederick Law Olmsted.

Senator Justin Smith Morrill and Frederick Law Olmsted partnered to re-landscape the grounds of the United States Capitol, starting in 1873.

Senator Morrill secured Olmsted’s services and was key to maintaining Congress’s support and funding during the lengthy realization of Olmsted’s plan for the Capitol grounds. The Friends are glad to re-partner to celebrate Olmsted’s achievements.
